Leadership begins within.

Helping leaders cultivate reflective presence to create more human-centered learning.

Leadership asks us to navigate complexity, support others through change, and make decisions that shape the experiences of learners and teams.

At DesignEd, we help leaders cultivate reflective practices that strengthen how they lead, how they design learning, and how they build cultures where people can thrive.

The Reality of Leadership Today

Leadership has always been complex.

Today, that complexity feels constant.

Leaders are navigating competing priorities, increasing demands, staff wellbeing, instructional improvement, and the daily challenge of making thoughtful decisions in environments that rarely slow down.

In the midst of that pace, there is often little space to pause, reflect, and intentionally consider how we are leading—not just what we are leading.

Yet the way we show up shapes every conversation, every decision, every relationship, and ultimately, every learning experience we create.

Lasting change doesn't begin with another initiative.
It begins with how we show up.

From Reacting to Leading with Intention

Urgency • Reactivity • Overload

Clarity • Connection • Intention

How leaders show up shapes how learning is experienced

When leaders create space to pause, reflect, and respond with intention, they create stronger conditions for trust, belonging, collaboration, and meaningful learning.

I help thoughtful leaders cultivate reflective practices that strengthen how they lead—so they can respond with greater clarity, presence, and intention, and create more human-centered learning environments.

Three Ways to Engage in This Work

One philosophy. Three ways to experience it.

Whether you're beginning with your own leadership, supporting a team, or creating greater coherence across an organization, each pathway is grounded in the same belief:

How we lead ourselves shapes how others experience learning.

Leading From Within

For thoughtful leaders ready to cultivate reflective practices, reconnect with what matters, and lead with greater clarity, presence, and intention.

Each pathway builds on the one before it, but you can begin where your work needs you most.

Together, these pathways support leaders, teams, and organizations in creating learning environments that are more reflective, connected, and human-centered.

What Makes This Work Different

Most professional learning focuses on changing instructional practice.

DesignEd begins one step earlier.

By helping leaders cultivate greater awareness, reflection, and intention, we strengthen the conditions that allow meaningful learning, collaboration, and lasting change to emerge.

At the heart of this work is a simple belief: the creative process mirrors the leadership process.

Our work brings together:

Reflective Leadership

Cultivating the awareness, presence, and intention that shape how leaders show up.

Creative Practice

Using accessible creative experiences as a pathway for reflection, regulation, and insight.

Human-Centered Learning Design

Designing learning experiences that honor learner variability, belonging, and meaningful engagement.

Adult Learning & Collaboration

Creating thoughtful professional learning where educators learn with—and from—one another.

Research-Informed Frameworks

Grounding the work in educational research, including Universal Design for Learning, Project-Based Learning, and evidence-based learning design.

These are not separate initiatives or disconnected strategies. Together, they create a coherent approach that aligns leadership, learning, and the systems that support both.

Partnership Begins With Shared Purpose

Meaningful change doesn't happen through one workshop or one initiative. It grows through trusted partnerships built on shared purpose, thoughtful collaboration, and a commitment to learning together.

DesignEd partners with schools, districts, and youth-serving organizations to support leadership, strengthen learning, and build systems where people can thrive.

Schools • Districts • County Offices • Nonprofit Organizations

The strongest partnerships begin with listening, grow through trust, and create lasting change together.

Why I Do This Work

For more than three decades, I've worked alongside educators and leaders to design learning that is thoughtful, inclusive, and deeply human.

Over time, I've come to believe that meaningful change begins not with another initiative, but with how we show up—for ourselves, for one another, and for the learners we serve.

My perspective has been shaped by two lifelong callings: education and art. Together, they've taught me that reflection, creativity, and curiosity are not extras—they are essential to meaningful learning and thoughtful leadership.

My work brings together reflective practice, creative inquiry, human-centered learning design, and leadership development—not as separate disciplines, but as connected ways of helping people learn, grow, and lead with greater intention.

I've learned that when people feel seen, respected, and able to think together, meaningful change becomes possible.

"Meaningful change begins with how we show up—for ourselves, for one another, and for the learners we serve."

Begin Where You Are

Every meaningful journey begins with a single step.

Whether you're exploring your own leadership, supporting a team, or thinking about system-wide change, we'll begin by listening, understanding your context, and designing the next step together.

You don't have to have everything figured out. You simply have to begin.

Let's explore what's possible—together.

Small, intentional shifts in how we lead can create lasting change in how others learn.
