About This Work
Reflective leadership. Human-centered learning design. Aligned systems.
I'm Symon Hayes, and I create spaces for leaders and teams to reconnect with clarity, purpose, and possibility—while building learning environments that reflect those values in practice.
With more than 30 years in education, I’ve seen how the pace and complexity of the work can pull even thoughtful leaders into reactive patterns.
My work creates space to slow down, think deeply, and lead with greater intention—so what you believe aligns with what you build.
At the center of this work is a simple belief: every learner deserves to feel seen, supported, and able to thrive—and that begins with the adults who create those conditions.
My Path
I began my career as an artist, and that creative lens continues to shape how I think about learning, leadership, and change. I've always been drawn to the process of making—exploring ideas, shifting perspectives, and creating something meaningful together.
That path led me into education, where I taught in both special and general education before moving into instructional coaching and leadership. Across each role, I found myself asking the same question: How do we create learning experiences where every learner can thrive? That question has shaped partnerships with schools, districts, and organizations focused on building more inclusive, engaging, and human-centered learning environments.
Throughout that journey, one thing has remained consistent:
Lasting change happens when people have space to think, reflect, and build together.
How I Work
I begin by listening.
Every school, district, and organization brings its own strengths, challenges, and context. Before designing solutions, I work to understand what already exists.
Together we reflect, ask thoughtful questions, notice patterns, and build on what is already working. My role is not to prescribe answers, but to help create the conditions where people think more clearly, learn together, and move forward with intention.
The schools we hope to build begin with the way we choose to lead.
Why I Do This Work
I didn't begin my career in education.
I began as an artist.
Long before I designed professional learning, I was learning to notice—to slow down, observe carefully, explore ideas, and trust the creative process.
Those habits never left me.
When I became an educator, and later an instructional coach and consultant, I realized they shaped how I approached leadership as much as art. I wasn't interested in quick answers. I was interested in helping people notice more, think more deeply, and create something meaningful together.
Today, that same perspective continues to shape everything I do.
If this way of thinking resonates, let's start a conversation.
Every partnership begins with listening, reflection, and conversation.
