DesignEd Learning

Supporting educators to design learning experiences that all learners can access and create an inclusive learning environment where all learners feel seen, heard, and valued.

There is nothing like a dream to create the future.
— Victor Hugo

DesignEd partners with schools and districts through strategic and ongoing professional learning to support school leaders and educators in developing the competencies and the confidence to support all their students.

Professional Learning includes workshops, coaching, and Communities of Practice that are intentionally and purfosefully designed.

DesignEd draws from the frameworks of Project Based Learning, Learner Centered Eduction, Universal Design for Learning, Understanding by Design, and embraces Learner Variability and the neurodiverse student population.

Workshops, coaching, communities of practice are designed to:

  • elevate the student role in their learning experience

  • support educators in designing intentional, purposeful, and relevant learning experiences that are accessible to all students

  • build the confidence of educators and school & district leaders in supporting their students

Mission

Empowering educators and school leaders to design learning experiences and create the enabling conditions so all learners have a sense of belonging and can access, engage in, and demonstrate their learning.

Vision

All educators have the competencies and confidence to support all their learners so they can access, engage, and own their learning; that all learners are seen, heard, and valued as individuals, and their strengths and interests are known by the adults in their lives

Why Professional Learning?

Effective professional learning directly impacts students. Student learning and achievement increase when educators engage in effective professional development focused on the skills educators need in order to address students’ major learning challenges.
— Learning Forward

I advocate for student-centered learning environments; where students are genuinely motivated and actively engaged in their own learning processes, and where their individual and collective identities, strengths, and diverse interests are thoughtfully represented in both what and how they learn. For this vision to truly become a reality, educators and school leaders must be afforded the opportunities to participate in meaningful and ongoing professional learning experiences that not only provide valuable insights but also create essential opportunities to deepen their understanding and develop the necessary skills to effectively design these enriching learning experiences.
